Kids Exercise Using Rope Jumping Develops Preschool Learning
During Educational Games for Kids
Often Rhythmic Moves Build Strength and Gross Motor Skills ~ Best!
Skill Development Task THREE:
Kids Exercise Includes: Rope Jumping...It Builds Body Control and Strength
STEP BY STEP PROGRESSIONS:
To work on body control during kids play have them try this:
YOU can make a big difference in your youngster's body control during their play.
This task sets up a problem and the child's skills will allow him to solve it at their current level of mastery
PROBLEM: Can you get a rope swinging under your feet
and jump over the rope several times ~ in a rhythmic way?
In the practice area find a clear area. Also find a rope that is as long as the distance from your childs one armpit to the other ~ while passing under their feet.
- Place your feet together.
- Hold one end of the rope in each hand.
- Allow the rope to make a SMILE while touching the ground in front of the feet.
- SWING the rope AWAY from the feet and TRY to jump over the rope as it swings BACK in toward the feet.
- HINT: SWING the SMILE towards and away from the feet ~ without jumping ~ A few times.
- The rope will skim the ground>/em> during this practice swinging.
- NOW Try to jump over the SMILE on the swing into towards the feet.
- JUMP and LAND. The rope should be BEHIND the feet, Still SMILING!
- Continue the Swing IN and JUMP pattern and
add a JUMP while SWINGING forward.
- This will be a JUMP while the rope passes [SWINGS] from
behind the feet to the START SMILE into the FRONT position.
- Continue blending the SMILE SWINGS UNDER the feet ~ front to back and back to front until the movements are smooth.
- THEN the whole regular JUMPING of the Rope:
Start the rope behind the feet and SEE if you can MAKE a JUMP while swinging the rope from behind the heels ~ OVERHEAD ~ and see the rope to JUMP ~ with perfect timing!
- This is a BIG TIME skill for youngsters!
Note: Watch the elbows, suggest that the arms are kept long. Softly make suggestions: keep back stretched, shoulders level, arms straight, bend knees on landing.
TASK OBJECTIVE: BODY CONTROl while in motion. This will help the child manage their body in dynamic motion as they leave the ground and control the landing, repetitively. Continued arm strength are developed as legs become active.
Teaching Hints for Turning Kids Exercise into Building Brain Times
- The senses will connect the muscles to the brain as the child strives to maintain their balance.
- Make sure that the practice times for this task are SHORT and happy!
- Check to make certain that the toes are touching as well as the heels touching each other.
- This contact recruits the brain and ensures good muscle control.
