Walking On the Outside Edges of the Feet...Builds A Solid Base for Moving Skills
STEP BY STEP PROGRESSIONS
To work moving skills during kids play try this:
YOU can make a big difference in your youngster's body control during their play.
In a calm voice, ASK you child to:
- Feet are parallel.
- Roll weight to the outside EDGES of the feet.
- Take one step forward supporting body on outside edge of foot.
- Helper Hint: The gait will be funny!
- Tell the child to have fun with this exercise.
- Do it funny!
- Move across the practice area to finsh line.
- Remember to keep the toes pointing frward as they move.
Note: Suggest the child uses there arms for balance while walking
TASK OBJECTIVE: DIRECTED SKILLS PRACTICE It is important to develop pliability in the foot. Using the locked foot edges builds strength and agility.
Teaching Hints for Turning Kids Play into Build Brain Time
- The senses will connect the muscles to the brain as the child strives to move well.
- Make sure that the practice times for this task are SHORT and happy!
- Check to make certain that the feet are pointing forward each step is taken.
- This exercise recruits the brain and ensures good muscle control.
Moving skills must be encouraged during kids play to make sure that preschool learning comes from fun times.
