Tiptoe Walking...Builds A Solid Base for Moving Skills
STEP BY STEP PROGRESSIONS
To work moving skills during kids play try this:
YOU can make a big difference in your youngster's body control during their play.
In a calm voice, ASK you child to:
- Place their feet side-by-side.
- Extend the ankles to STAND on toes.
- Balance HIGH as you can on the balls of your feet.
- Press the heels together.
- That action will help the child keep their balance.
- That point IS VERY IMPORTANT.
- Drop the heels to the floor.
- Lift to tiptoes again and keep that stretched foot as the child walks forward.
- Keep HEELS HIGH!
Note: Suggest the child uses there arms for balance while walking
TASK OBJECTIVE: CONTROL OF LEGS This simple challenge introduces the locked knees and vertical instep are needed to move well.
Teaching Hints for Turning Kids Play into Build Brain Time
- The senses will connect the muscles to the brain as the child strives to move well.
- Make sure that the practice times for this task are SHORT and happy!
